I’m a full-time graduate student. What grad student tax deductions for out of pocket education tuition and fees am I eligible to claim on my tax return?

Answer

Just like an undergraduate student, a graduate student is usually eligible for grad student tax deductions including:

  • Tuition and fees deduction
  • Lifetime Learning Credit

However, graduate students usually aren’t eligible for the American Opportunity Credit.
