Where’s my refund – Vermont?

To check the status of your Vermont state refund online, follow these steps:

  1. Go to https://myvtax.vermont.gov/.
  2. Click on “Check the Status of Your Return” –  “Personal Income Tax Return Status”.
  3. You will be prompted to enter:
    • ID type (SSN/ITIN)
    • ID number
    • Confirm ID
    • Last name
    • Zip code
    • Exact refund amount

4. Then click “Search” to find your refund.

To check the status of your return, you should wait at least 72 hours for an electronically filed return and four or more weeks for paper filings.

The process time for e-filed returns have an expected time frame of six to eight weeks, while paper returns typically take at least eight to 12 weeks. Tax identity fraud prevention techniques may result in refund wait times in excess of 10 weeks.

What can cause a delay in my Vermont refund?

A few things could cause a delay in your Vermont refund, including:

  • If the return doesn’t match the information available to the Department
  • An error on your return
  • Claims that require extra review
