Why you received IRS Notice CP12A

  1. You filed a tax return claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit.
  2. When processing your return, the IRS discovered a miscalculation.
  3. The IRS corrected the error and made an adjustment to your return.
  4. CP12A was sent to notify you that the adjustment resulted in a refund or an increase in your refund. The IRS will issue the refund in four to six weeks.

Notice deadline: 60 days

If you miss the deadline: If you do not dispute the changes on a CP12A within 60 days, the IRS will not reverse the adjustment and you will lose your right to appeal the IRS decision.
