Why you received IRS Notice CP62

  1. You made a payment to the IRS and it was not applied to the tax year that you requested.
  2. The IRS located the missing payment and transferred it to your account.
  3. The IRS sent CP62 to notify you that the payment was transferred. The notice also explains that you have a refund balance or what your current balance due is.
