If you disagree with an IRS decision about your tax issue, you may be able to request a conference with the IRS employee’s manager. Sometimes, a manager may be more willing to work with you.
If you received an IRS notice that gives you a deadline to file an appeal, requesting a manager conference may not extend that deadline. So, make sure to request an appeal by the deadline on the notice you receive to protect your appeal rights. Then, you can withdraw the appeal if you and the manager come to an agreement.
