As you complete your taxes, we’ll include complete filing instructions with your return, so you’ll know what to mail.
E-File Mailing Requirements
Here’s an overview of what you might have to mail in after you e-file your tax return:
- If you print and mail your return, you’ll need to sign and mail it.
- If you e-file your return:
- If your return is accepted and you signed with a PIN, you’re done. You don’t need to mail anything else.
- If your return is accepted and you chose to use an IRS signature form (Form 8453-OL), you need to sign and mail this form.
- If your return is rejected and you can’t resend your return electronically, you need to sign and mail your return. We’ll provide you with the steps to do this.
