Do I Need to Report Federal Estimated Tax Payments?
Income tax is a pay-as-you-go system. If you’re an employee, your taxes are paid through withholding (set by your W-4 instructions). Certain taxpayers (Ex: self-employed or contractors) don’t complete Form W-4 and must instead send federal and state estimated taxes payments throughout the year along with Form 1040-ES. You’ll need to include those amounts as part of preparing your return.
Where Do I Enter Federal Estimated Tax Payments?
To find where to enter your federal estimated tax payments, you’ll first need to log in to your MyBlock account. Then:
- Choose Federal on the top navigation.
- Choose Taxes.
- Choose Estimated Taxes and Other Taxes, Payments and Penalties.
- Choose Visit Topic, next to Federal estimated tax payments (2022 Form 1040-ES).
- Enter the payments you made.
Certain topics aren’t available to you until you complete the topics leading up to them. This keeps your return accurate and helps you save time.
