What Is H&R Block’s DeductionPro?
If you’re claiming itemized deductions (vs. using the standard deduction), you’ll need to know the value of everything that you’re eligible to deduct. For charitable deductions, we make it easy for you. H&R Block’s DeductionPro is an easy, accurate way to place a value on used clothing and household goods. Just choose the condition and quantity for each item, and DeductionPro will provide a value based on up-to-date thrift shop prices.
How Do I Use H&R Block’s DeductionPro?
To use DeductionPro in the Deluxe, Premium, or Self-Employed product:
- Go to the Charitable Donation topic under Adjustments and Deductions.
- Choose Add Donation.
- Enter the information about your donation(s).
- Choose Enter and Value Items to go to the DeductionPro tool.
- Choose the links to find the correct item type.
Once you’ve found the type, enter the quantity of items in each field that corresponds to it. When done, go back to Categories. Do this for all items you donated.
Once you’ve entered all the items, choose Save and Close. DeductionPro will calculate the total of all your items and enter it into your return.
